Resources to support communities affected by U.S. tornadoes
Tornado season in the U.S. typically begins in March and lasts through June and, on average, around 1000 tornadoes are reported each year.1 This year’s tornado season began with a large storm system that hit the Midwest and part of the Southern U.S.
Between March 14 and 16, a series of tornadoes and severe windstorms ripped through these regions, with these strong winds leading to dozens of wildfires. At least 40 fatalities have been reported and the extent of the damage is still being evaluated.
